Big news for the "Top Chef" franchise this week . . .

Tony Mantuano (Spiaggia/Terzo Piano) hosts a viewing party so guests can cheer him on as he competes in the "Champions Round" of the second season of "Top Chef Masters."

It's happening 8:30-10:30pm Wednesday at Terzo Piano, and guests will be treated to dessert selections paired with wines personally selected by wine director Cathy Mantuano. The show starts at 9pm.

A $20 admission fee benefits Mantuano's "Top Chef Masters" designated charity, Feeding America, which supports local member, Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Also going down this week is the arrival of Bravo's "Top Chef: The Tour"—a nationwide 21-city promotional tour featuring a customized "Top Chef" 18-wheeler semi-truck. Look for it at East Illinois Street at North Michigan Avenue May 6-7 for three interactive shows: 10:30-11:30am; noon-1pm; and 1:30-2:30pm.

They've upgraded the tour to feature a restaurant-style format with table seating, bringing fans a fuller, more elaborate culinary experience, but we're more excited about the fact that last season's "fan favorite," Kevin Gillespie will be one of the hosts.

He'll be accompanied by Mike Isabella (both were on season 6), and guests will get to meet them as well as sample dishes, receive gourmet cooking tips, hear secrets of the show, and participate in a variety of on-site "Top Chef" activities.
