After being shuttered for almost a week because of basement flooding, Logan Square's glorious hipster hangout Lula Cafe is back in business, beginning today.

From their Facebook page:

"Thanks to the generosity of everyone in Logan Square and all our industry friends, we will be opening ahead of schedule, at 9am Thursday morning.

"Special thanks to Rob and Allie of Mado for the delicious lunch and fuel that helped us to burn the midnight oil over the last few days. From the bottom of our hearts, thank ...you to you all."

Looks like they'll have a great weekend after all!

Nice reporting on the flooding and closings around Logan Square this weekend. Good to see your report when places such as Longman/Eagle and Lula re-openings. Both fine places.

May I add that some places did NOT close while dealing with the flood (Not a dig against the closers) El Cid on Kedzie was one of them. Great Patio in both front and back, excellent food, very personable service, very nice lounge on 2nd floor with tequila collection bar none, and Jose' Gonzalez treats his customers as friends.

He does not have a publicist, no high profile investors and hoi polloi connections. His skin is in the game. I'd give him my props.

No I don't have an interest in El Cid so no hidden agenda here. Just a guy that feels the place and the owner are deserving.

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your schedule to leave these comments.

I will definitely be checking out El Cid this summer. I have heard some AMAZING praises about this place, and you have got me convinced I need to go ASAP!
