All These 'No Guns Allowed' Signs Around Town Are Making Me Uncomfortable

noguns

When I think of someone walking into a Chicago restaurant or bar brandishing a gun—who is not a cop—all I can picture is John Wayne. In a 10-gallon hat. Strutting in cowboy boots. With a holster on his hip.

I don't want that image in my head, but it's now become a reality since Illinois passed the concealed carry law in 2013. The law went into effect on Jan. 5 and restaurants and bars all over town have been posting the above sign in their windows.

I totally get why they must do it, but what about the restaurants and bars that do not?! That means some gun-toting guy or gal will have the right to bring a gun into an Illinois establishment. And you won't even know about it because it'll either be in a handbag or hidden under a sweater.

My biggest issue with this new law is that with all the liquor flowing in these spots I frequent, who's to say that some angry person won't take it out on others if for some reason he (she) doesn't get his (her) way? Remember the movie theater murder a few weeks ago?

I'm just saying . . .
